Seared Ahi Tuna w Sticky Rice and Avocado
This Japanese style dish is a nice change in your regular meal line-up. Recipe makes 1 serving.
Total Cook/Prep time: 45 minutes


  • Ahi tuna steak
  • 1/4 hass avocado
  • 1 scallion (sliced)
  • 1/2 cup sushi rice
  • 1/2 tsp rice wine vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • Soy sauce
  • Black and/or white sesame seeds


Cook the rice according to package directions. Sushi rice recommended.

Add the ricewine vinegar and sugar to the rice and mix together.

Set aside.

Heat a pan on the stovetop on medium high. 

Be sure the pan is hot, and spray with cooking spray, then immediately place the tuna in the pan.

Sprinkle the top side with a generous amount of the sesame seeds.

Cook each side for 1 minute.

Remove from heat.

Slice the avacado in thin slices.

Assemble the tuna, avacado and rice on the plate.

Put the soy sauce in a small dish and dip the fish in the soy sauce.
