Turkey Chili

You can use extra lean ground turkey or extra lean ground chicken in this recipe. Zero points on the WW Freestyle plan. Recipe makes about 8 servings (2 cups each).

Total Cook/Prep time: 2 hours

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs extra lean ground turkey
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes (lg 28 oz can)
  • 1 can tomato sauce (small 15 oz can)
  • 1 onion (diced)
  • 2 green bell peppers (diced)
  • 2 cans Roman beans (rinsed and drained)
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 bullion cubes (chicken flavor)
  • 1 tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • salt and pepper
  • spray of olive oil

Directions

Heat a stockpot on low heat

Spray with olive oil and add the onions. Sautee about 3 minutes.

Add the peppers and cook for 1 - 2 minutes more.

Add the ground turkey and mix as it cooks - until the turkey it is no longer pink inside.

Add the spices, tomatoes, water and bullion cubes.

Mix and let it simmer for at least one hour, or up to 2 hours.

Add the beans during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
