Mahi-mahi Burgers

This is not as much of a recipe as it is an idea and suggestion if you need a quick and easy lunch or dinner. I can't tell you how much I love these burgers from Trader Joe's. You can find them in the freezer section near the fish. The burger shown in the photo uses a home-made pretzel bun I had previously made, but I typically use the Trader Joe's Whole Wheat Sandwich Buns for this (which are 3 SmartPoints - all plans). The total calories and/or SmartPoints value for this burger, depends on the bun you use.

WW SmartPoints and Nutrition information for this recipe is based on 1 Mahi-mahi burger, 1 Trader Joe's Whole Wheat Sandwich Bun, lettuce and tomato.

WW SmartPoints and Nutrition information exclude dressing.

Add 1 additional SmartPoint if you use the dressing recipe listed here (it's 1 SmartPoint for all plans).

Yield/Servings: 1 Serving Size: 1 burger Total Cook/Prep time: 20 minutes

  • 1 sandwich bun
  • 1 mahi-mahi burger
  • handful of chopped lettuce
  • 1 slice of tomato
  • For the dressing:
  • 2 tbsp fat-free greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp mayo
  • 2 tsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin

Preheat a frying pan on medium-high heat for about 1 minute.

I do not spray my pan with cooking spray because I have a good non-stick pan, but you can do that if needed

From frozen state, place the mahi-mahi burger in the pan.

Cook for approximately 8 minutes on the first side, and 7 minutes for the second side, but test to be sure it's done. It may need another minute or two.

While it's cooking, mix up the dressing ingredients in a bowl.

When the burger is done cooking, assemble the tomato, lettuce and patty onto the bottom side of the bun.

Drizzle the dressing over the burger, then top it with the other side of the bun.
